Michele, Dr Chris and Charlotte |
Since then she has set up the Charlotte's Shining Star charity in Manchester, which has the same aims as Claire's Wish - to lower the age for cervical screenings and raise awareness of cervical cancer - and also raises funds for the Young Oncology Unit (YOU) at The Christie Manchester.
Manchester's 106.6 radio interviewed Charlotte and TV's Dr Chris Steele who we also interviewed about his strong views on the age of cervical screenings:

i would just like to say how inspiring charlotte hughes is.i am a friend of the family and known her and her twin sister donna since they were born. Now,i,ve seen what courage my own mother had with breast cancer.,only at such a young age with charlotte..she puts myself to shame and others too,and makes me question 'how' does she manage like she does? its so much physical and mental strength needed for her charity work, combine that with being a mother to tenika, and its defies possibility in my mind.,but i have seen it,been part of some, thankfully not all! i wouldent have lasted...Take a bow charlotte,i have seen knighthoods less deserving..tezm
ReplyDeleteWhat a girl claire was! having only read about her i still filled up when i realised just how wrong it is with the screening age..whoever coined the phrase "too young for a cervical cancer screening, but not too young to die from cervical cancer" was absolutely bang on,and how long is some stranger going to stand in the way of a young womans health issues? there are so many fundings given to non life/death instances and this is what it all comes down to in the end, money! bless you claire...tezm.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte you are one very brave woman. Thank you for all you do.
