Our Campaign

Our aim is to raise awareness of cervical cancer in under 25s, and we are campaigning to get the age of cervical screenings lowered back to 20.

Claire Louise Allan sadly lost her battle against cervical cancer on 17th August 2009 aged just 23 years, leaving behind 2 little girls Megan, then aged 5, and Millie, then aged 18 months.

In 2003, the Department of Health raised the age of cervical screenings from 20 up to 25. This decision was reviewed in 2009 due to public demand but nothing changed.

If Claire had been given that all-important smear test at 20 she would still be here today.

It was always Claire's wish to do something about this - "When I'm better mum" she used to say. But sadly she never got the chance. When Claire found out she was dying she asked me to do this for her. So now myself, family and friends are determined to get Claire's Wish granted.

If you are aged between 18 and 25 you are too old for the HPV Vaccine and too young for a smear test. Even if you ask for one, like Claire did when she was 21, you will be refused.

We handed one petition to Downing Street last year, but it was ignored. We won't give up until we get what my brave daughter wanted.

So please help us to protect our girls, join our campaign, sign any petitions that come this way, and pass on the message to your friends and family.

Thank you so much for your support.

Michele (Claire's mum)
